FormGenius

Connecting an AI Assistant

FormGenius supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets AI assistants connect directly to your account. Once connected, you can create, review, and manage your forms by describing what you want, without opening the FormGenius dashboard.

What this is

Think of it as a live link between an AI chat assistant and your FormGenius account. Once you connect it, you can ask the assistant to do things like “build me a volunteer sign-up form” or “how is my feedback form doing?” and it will act on your real FormGenius account — your forms, your submissions, your plan.

This is available on every FormGenius plan, including the free Starter tier. Individual actions follow the same limits as the app itself — for example, viewing analytics still requires a Growth or Business plan, exactly as it does in the dashboard.

How to connect (using Claude.ai as an example)

FormGenius works with any MCP-compatible AI assistant in principle. Claude.ai is the one it’s been tested against so far, so it’s used here as the worked example — the steps will look similar in other assistants that support custom connectors.

  1. In Claude.ai, open Settings → Connectors (or use the “+” button in a chat and choose Connectors), then choose to add a custom connector.
  2. Enter the FormGenius connector address: https://formgenius.co.uk/api/mcp
  3. You’ll be taken to log in to FormGenius if you aren’t already, then shown a screen confirming which FormGenius account you’re about to connect. Check it’s the right one, then approve.
  4. You’re connected. Back in your chat, make sure the FormGenius connector is switched on for that conversation, then just ask for what you want.

Warning

Only ever enter your FormGenius login details on formgenius.co.uk itself. The connection step above will redirect you there to sign in — if you’re ever asked for your FormGenius password anywhere else, don’t enter it.

Tip

Most AI assistants let you turn connectors on or off per conversation, so you may need to switch FormGenius on again in a brand new chat. That’s normal — look for a “Connectors” or plug icon near the message box.

What you can do

See your forms
Ask what forms are on your account, or ask to see the full content of one.
Build a new form from a description
Describe the form you want — or share an existing document, PDF, or photo of a paper form directly in the chat — and ask the assistant to create it in FormGenius.
Rework a whole form
Ask the assistant to review an existing form and rebuild it — useful for “this form isn’t quite right, make it better” requests.
Make a quick edit
Reword a question, add help text, or toggle whether a field is required, without touching anything else on the form.
Check accessibility
Run the same accessibility checks as the in-app Accessibility Wizard and get a score with specific issues.
Check how a form is doing
Ask about submission totals, trends, or which form gets the most traffic.Available on Growth & Business
Read what people submitted
Ask open-ended questions about submission content, like what people are actually saying.
Publish or pause a form
Make a form live as a web form, or pause/resume one that already is, all from the chat.

What it can’t do

A few things are deliberately kept as manual, in-app steps:

  • It can’t export a finished PDF for you. Exporting is kept inside FormGenius so you can do the final accessibility checks yourself before sharing it.
  • It can’t unpublish or delete a form, or delete submissions — these permanently remove data, so they stay a deliberate, manual action in the dashboard.
  • It can’t change your billing, plan, or account settings.

Important

The assistant only ever acts on your own FormGenius account, using your own plan and permissions — it can’t see or touch anyone else’s forms, and it can’t do anything you haven’t asked it to.

Disconnecting

Remove or disconnect FormGenius from your AI assistant’s own connector settings at any time — the same place you added it.
